Dance... How to Become a Good Dancer

This presentation is part of the Sarawakiana talk, a series of lecture on Sarawak subject matter organized by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak. The talks are arranged on a monthly basis covering areas such as Sarawak culture, art and craft.

The speaker for the talk is Encik Sharkawi Haji Amit, a Sarawak dance professional. Encik Sharkawi Haji Amit previously served in the Cultural Division in the Ministry of Social Development and Urbanization. Currently, he teaches dance and owns Cultural Arts Performers Arena Company (CAPERENA) in Kuching.


This particular presentation focuses on traditional dancing. En Sharkawi Haji Amit will share his experience, tips and the solutions to the three most basic problems people face when wanting to learn to dance: (1) Wanting to dance but unsure of which dance they want to learn or what is available (2) Unsure of what music goes with which dance and where to find it and (3) Having a way to remember the steps when they are out on the dance floor.
