Summary
The title of the book is interesting to me. It attracts me to read and explore more about what the author tries to say. This book is not a thick pages writing, it has only 103 pages, with 3 major parts on “a leader is…, the six principles of leadership, and making a positive difference”. Mark Sanborn, the author is really appreciative to many people who offered stories and ideas for his book as what he greatly emphasizes in his introduction. To me, this book gives readers the idea of leadership as an influence in the sense that we don’t need a title to be a leader in life, and the simple fact of having a title, won’t make us a leader. This is simply because everyone has the opportunity to lead every day. As what Mark says, it doesn’t matter what our position is, how long we’ve worked at our job, whether in a family etc, the fact is that anyone at any level can learn to be a leader and help to shape or influence the world around us. This book teaches us people lead for different reasons. What makes a different is the passion – passion for life and for what we do. This is what I find really inspiring. The language used for the book is easy to understand by anyone, the message conveyed is straight forward. To me, this book is strongly recommended for anyone who wants to be a leader in his or her own right because the author says clearly that the heart of leadership is really about everyone who has the strong passion to achieve extraordinary things.
