PUSTAKA MIRI TO ORGANIZE ITS FIRST BLOOD DONATION DRIVE FOR THIS YEAR

Posted on 10 March 2023

MIRI - Continuing its community service responsibility effort, Sarawak State Library, Miri Campus (Pustaka Miri) is organizing its first Blood Donation Drive for this year on Saturday, March 11.
The campaign is organised in collaboration with Sarawak Teachers' Union Miri Division, Sarawak Lakiput Association, Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Association, Miri District Scout Council and Miri Hospital’s Blood Bank. It will be held in the foyer of Pustaka Miri from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
“Organising blood donation campaign is a noble practice that can foster social responsibility by encouraging people to donate blood. It also aims to raise awareness on the importance of donating blood to help save lives as well as instil the spirit of volunteerism,” said the library's Corporate Management Officer Shirley Szebah Mambai, “thus realising this, we have been organising such program since Pustaka Miri's opening in 2002.”
Successful blood donors will be given snacks and gifts as a token of appreciation for their support. Various interesting activities will be organised as well in conjunction with the campaign, such as exhibitions, Pustaka membership registration counter as well as sales of books published by Pustaka at special selling prices.
Each Pustaka member who registers on that day will receive attractive welcoming gift.
“Therefore, do not miss this golden opportunity to participate in the activities held throughout the programme. Do bring along friends and family members to enliven the atmosphere of this campaign,” she added.
Similar drive held end of last year on 12 November 2022 saw 51 donors came and a total of 41 bags of blood were collected.
The scheduled dates for the upcoming quarterly blood donation drives are 20 May, 26 August and 25 November.
