Lee Hock Kiar

Lee Hock Kiar was born in 1937 in Kuching, Sarawak. He was a member of Kuching Art Club from 1956 to 1965 and Sarawak Fine Art Society from 1967-1968. He is a member of Sarawak Artist Society since 1989. He worked as an art teacher at St. Joseph`s School, Kuching from 1965 to 1992 and then at Lofge School, Kuching from 1993 to 1998.

He was awarded Second Prize for both All State Sarawak Art Competition in 1982 and 1983, both organized by the Sarawak the Sarawak Art Council and the British Council. Since 1970, he held solo exhibitions and participated actively in various art shows locally and internationally (China, Brunei, Hong Kong, Australia). His artworks are collected by the Galleries of Primitif in Australia, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, Brunei Museum, Sarawak Museum and Sarawak Shell Company Limited, Lutong.
