Stephanie Eng @ Stephen Eng

It was in the year 1945, just as the second world war about to come to an end in Sarawak, Stephanie Eng, then known as Stephen Eng, was born in Buntal Village, to a family running from the pressure of wartime in Sarawak. Soon after, Eng`s family moved back to Kuching.
Largely a self-taugh artist, Eng started the interest in painting since she was a child. It was during that time she was met with opportunity to obtain drawing materials from his uncle who works in a printing press.
Eng`s success in the art line begun very early. She participated in various group art exhibitions and successfully made a name within the art network. She was only 14 years old when she participated in her first ever group art show and sold her first painting. At 19, she was sponsored by the Kuching Art Club for her first solo exhibition held at the British Council Centre in Kuching. With great success, her artwork took her to many places around the world for exhibitions. Namely, Brunei, Hawaii, Australia, England and etc.
Stephanie Eng artworks attracted many collectors local and internationally. Her artworks are within the collection of the Brunei Museum, Petronas Gallery, Kuching Cat Museum, Sarawak Museum, Malaysian Embassy in Canberra Australia, Sun Herald Sydney Office, F&N Company, Hilton Kuching, and private collections in the USA, UK, Holland, France, Australia, Germany, Brunei and etc.
