Hoan Kee Huang

Hoan Kee Huang was born in the year 1971, of Chinese parentage in the Island of Borneo. He had from young age shown very strong interests and understanding in the subject of arts. Despite not having much support from his family, he was determined to embrace his passion in arts and went on in pursuing his career as an artist. As a young adult, Hoan began venturing into art through sculptures working mainly with clay. It was in 1998 when oil and canvas had all first started. He was given a set of black and white oil paints together with some used canvases by a friend. With that chance, but without any guidance or art classes, he toiled over through trial and error, never giving up in what he knew he was capable of doing. His struggle gave him joy knowing that his hardship was going to lead him somewhere. His early works of art was mainly concentrated on the rich culture and lifestyle of his hometown, Borneo. Based in Kuala Lumpur for a few years, his artwork had flourish and was widely acknowledged and recognised amongst various art societies and collectors both locally and internationally. In 2003, he was approached personally by the country`s king and queen, Seri Paduka Baginda yang Di-Pertuan Agong XII Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and Seri Permaisuri Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid for a personal self portrait. Most of his work are highly exhibited and demonstrated in galleries, art exhibitions and other places such as Istana Negara (National Palace of Malaysia), Istana Perlis (Palace of Perlis), museums, and some were kept by foreign and local art collectors.
