Magdelene Tai enjoys the challenge of creating most of her painting colors. Her painting focuses on the complexities of the human condition and sensitively explores people`s character. The subjects depicted in her paintings are either people she has personally known or are imagined figures created to represent experiences and emotions. Following the traditional method of painting, she went from light to dark tones. She uses transparent off-whites to preserve the underlying light color textures and apply dark line drawings over the surface to create a certain degree of luminosity and contrast. The artist`s working method allows for a spontaneous flow of artistic expression. This approach of mixed media use and minimal color combinations, all contribute to the creation of pieces that are unique.
