The botanical art has entered a new age in which it has significant raised the profile of botanical illustration as both art form and an appreciation of nature. The beautiful of Nepenthes or the tropical pitcher plants belong to the insect-eating plants that hold unique fascination for many people. It is on the island of Borneo that the tropical plant has reached their greatest diversity. Water seeps perpetually through the soil where they grow, leaching all the minerals out. But while other plants wilt, the pitchers utilize another source of nutrition; abundant insect life, which is drawn to the fragrant pool of water within, all fall helplessly into the insectivore`s trap leaving more digestible remain for the ingenious plant.
