Question: Is there a vaccine for dengue in Malaysia?

Answer: Yes, Malaysia has approved the use of a dengue vaccine, but it is not widely used for the general population yet. The currently approved vaccine, Dengvaxia® (CYD-TDV), is recommended only for individuals aged 9–45 years who have had a previous dengue infection (as confirmed by a serological test). It is not recommended for those who have never had dengue, as it may increase the risk of severe dengue upon future infection. The use of the vaccine in Malaysia is still under careful evaluation by the Ministry of Health, and is currently not part of the national immunization program.
