Question: All about bipolar disorder?

Answer: Bipolar disorder is characterised by episodes of deep depression followed by mania. The set of symptoms and their severity varies considerably from person to person, and in many cases, the person may not have any symptoms for long periods of time.

No one knows the cause(s) of bipolar disorder although it is thought to be an interaction between multiple genes and the environment. Common triggers include using cannabis or other illegal drugs, tobacco, alcohol, taking drugs not prescribed for you, staying up all night, lack of regular and adequate sleep, poor diet and higher levels of stress.
