Question: What is RASCOM?

Answer: The Rajang Area Security Command or simply known as RASCOM is a Malaysian security area which was officially established on 25 March 1972 by the Malaysian government. It was established based on several incidents of murder, chaos and destruction of public property by communists in the 3rd Division of Sarawak. The idea was to mobilise fully the government machinery to combat the communists' threat. The formation of RASCOM saw the evaluation of an integrated command and a central system of all security operations.

The declaration of RASCOM meant the government had now declared war against the communists.
