Question: Koleksi Sarawakiana, Bastin : The Languages of Borneo

Answer: The Languages of Borneo by Sidney H. Ray is a book written on Borneo vocabularies by Geographical order. The author started his interest in studying the languages since he received an invitation from Dr. Charles Hose (the Baram Resident) to visit the Baram District of Sarawak during the winter in 1898 -1899.

The vocabularies were divided into three sets:
1. The languages of Lower Sarawak such as Milano (Melanau); Sea Dayak (Daya / "inlanders" & Malay Laut / "sea peopleā€); and Land Dayak (Bidayuoh / Bidayuh);
2. The languages of Netherlands territory with the Kayan & Kenniah (Kenyah) of central Sarawak;
3. The languages of the tribes in North and central Sarawak, Brunei, and British North Borneo.
