The Endangered Giants of the Sky

Rapid urbanisation and deforestation has threatened the survival of these elegant giants of the forest. Sarawak has eight out of fifty-four species hornbills in the world and they are now protected species under Wild Life Protection Ordinance (1998). This painting is about the gentle giants cohabitating in the jungle with other animals. The broken lines are to denote the destruction of the forest and if more stringent action is not taken to protect these animals, they will soon be gone forever.
