Summary
This is essentially a book about studying organizations. It explores studying organizations from the inside for an undergraduate readership that spends time on placements or internships. It is what is referred to as “inquiry from the inside”, as being “backstage” or as being immersed in the “swampy lowlands”. For undergraduate students and interns working in organizations, attention to what goes on around them evokes questions about how organizations function and sets the foundations for learning. After reading this book, I must say that it provides a detailed and practical review of all the different ways that insiders (undergraduates or interns) could and should inquire into and about their organizational experiences. I found the author who is the Professor Emeritus and Fellow Emeritus at Trinity Business School, Trinity College, Dublin encourages the readers to pay attention to what goes on in organization, to question what they experience and ultimately to make sense of how organizations function, helping them develop key reflexive and critical thinking skills for their future. The book is recommended to all especially to readers who like the deeper understanding and insights about the subject matter.
