Summary
A comedian primarily known from his acts in Comedy Central, Trevor Noah has turned into writing to share his childhood growing in South Africa. The book gracefully balanced the typical Noah’s comedy and the harsh reality of his childhood during apartheid. As a biracial child, he was classified as “colored” and that label has made him thought if he was born a crime. The book mentioned his mother taking him and his brother to churches every Sunday, and how Christianity helped them during the hard times. He went from selling pirated CDs to reselling cheap goods at higher prices to afford university tuition to no avail. His stepfather’s constant abuse to his mother and him have led him on the career path of comedy and his mother’s inevitable divorce and rediscovering a new love for another man.
