Kuching - Sarawak State Library is inviting the community to celebrate the International Archives Day 2017 on June 9.
The celebration is an opportunity to get to know and understand the roles and functions of the State Records Repository in documenting history of Sarawak and helping the public access the necessary information.
The International Archives Day 2017 Exhibition, open to all, will be conducted at State Library’s lobby from 8amto 5pm.
`A Week with Archives` program themed `Archives, Citizenship and Interculturalism` will be held from June 13 to 16 in conjunction with the celebration.
Among the interesting programs lined up for `A Week with the Archives` are `Archives Photographs: Describe Me!`, `History and Me!`, `I Love History! Saya Sayang Sejarah!` dan `Old Newspaper: The Hidden History`.
It is meant to raise awareness among the public on the importance of records and archives in providing the basic history identity.
It is also to raise awareness on the importance of preserving records and archives for long-term storage.
