Ringkasan
Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, is not your typical doll movie. On the surface, it’s bright, funny, and full of pink dreamhouses, disco rollerblades, and quirky humor. But underneath the glitter, it’s a sharp, layered satire about gender roles, identity, consumerism, and what it means to be human. The story follows Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie), who begins to malfunction in her perfect plastic world. So she leaves Barbie Land and enters the real world to discover what’s wrong — only to learn that reality is a lot more complicated than she imagined. Meanwhile, Ken (Ryan Gosling), in a hilarious twist, finds his own identity crisis that sparks a revolution back home. Gerwig’s direction balances playfulness with poignancy. There’s slapstick and musical numbers, but also raw moments about female empowerment, motherhood, and existential doubt — especially through America Ferrera’s now-famous monologue on the contradictions of being a woman.
