Summary
This is a compilation of exciting articles on early childhood education to me. It has 17 articles and divided into 3 parts namely rethinking identities of children in transformed curricular contexts as in Part I, rethinking policies and programs in Part II and in Part III, it is all about rethinking teacher education and professional development. To me, in this book, both editors have assembled an excellent and wide ranging of authors who have an extensive array of experiences with young children, their families and community groups. The content focuses on important issues associated with social justice and diversity of lived experiences that early childhood educators encounter on a daily basis in their work with young children. To me, this 287-pages book enables readers to appreciate the compilation as a valuable resource for studying and working with young children. It is designed to assist students and professionals in early childhood education to engage in and discuss the subject matters in a collaborative forum. This book is a useful read to know and understand the relationship among theory, research and practice. It presents a forward-looking account of how diversity can improve the educational experience of all young children.
