Summary
Habitude focuses on how to omit unwanted habit and replacing it or forming a new good habit. Habitude is actually a combination of two words that is habit and attitude. The book does not straight away jump into the exercise or activity to omit unwanted habit and then replace it with the good one. Instead the authors, took time in explaining about the concept of “Habitude” and the changes that can be done and only then the authors proceed to the 21 days of action plan. This guide book or self help book consists of two parts which are part one: understanding “habitude” and part two making the change. Part one of the book consists on Introduction to habit, the building blocks of habit, an introduction to attitude and building your belief system. These are separated in different chapters. Whilst in the part two, the author brings the reader attention to making the necessarily changes. This have to to do with one’s mindset. For that, the author included conditioning your mindset on chapter five, chapter 6 : taking the first step, chapter 7 : the final preparations and lastly chapter 8, the 21 days of action plan. Most of the guide book or self help book would usually jump into the action plan but, unlike any other book as I have said earlier the author real took time describing and discussing what is what to the reader in order to enhance or deepen reader’s understanding regarding the said topic and perhaps in this way, reader are more aware of their thought (mindset), habit and attitude. Some reader may not prefer this method while some will appreciate this. For me, in order to change it is important to understand although it is true that it may takes time to really understand our mindset, habit and attitude but then, I can say that by deepen our understanding it will be less of a hassle to omit the unwanted habit and forming new good one. In my opinion, the reason that the authors did not jump to the action plan right away because the action plan have a lot to do with what had been explain in all the chapters. It is interesting that the authors also included motivational quotes in order to motivate readers to bring about changes that they had hoped for. Another “like factor” that I have noticed from the book is that, the authors uses simple words unlike some books that may include unfamiliar terms or some sort of jargon in the book.
