Summary
According to the writer, the Sebup (pronounced Chebup) are found in Tinjar, Baram district in Miri, Sarawak. They live in three different longhouses; Long Luyang, Long Selapun and Long Pala. Sebup is also a part of the Kenyah community, a sub-group of the Orang Ulu of Sarawak. This book is a brilliant effort in documenting the Sebup dialect, in the hopes of preserving this rare and unique dialect for future generations as well as new learners. The writer, being a Sebup himself, has standardised the spelling system of this dialect in order to be able to use it written form. The words are spelt as they are pronounced by elderly Sebup folks in longhouses, including foreign words being used in common daily conversations. Ulu' belajan peya' Sebup pemong!
