MIRI Pustaka Miri
organized Creative Women Workshop: Decoupage – English-Styled Decorative Art
(Bengkel Wanita Kreatif: Decoupage – Seni
Hiasan Ala Inggeris
)
on Saturday, 28th January 2012.

The mini workshop
was held at the library’s Multipurpose Room and the facilitator is a local
decoupage enthusiast Vivi Shalawati Ahmad who has been doing the handicraft for
several years.

The workshop was to
teach the participants decoupage skills which can be used to generate side
income for housewives as well as working women.

Some 30
participants, including men, learnt the easy-to-apply techniques hands-on and
brought home their masterpieces.

Decoupage is the
art of decorating an object by gluing color paper cut-outs onto it in
combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and so on. This hobby
encourages recycling by using used items which in the end, become colourful and
beautiful pieces of art
