Handing Over of Dr. Trevor Hancock Personal Collection to Sarawak State Library

Kuching Pustaka Negeri Sarawak had
received a donation of Dr. Trevor Hancock’s Personal Collections
during his volunteer service in 1966 and visit to Sarawak in 1997. The
collection comprises of mostly photographs, newspaper articles, slides etc. are
of cultural and historical values to Sarawak.

The collection presented by Dr.
Trevor Hancock, a Professor and Senior Scholar School of Public Health and
Social Policy, University of Victoria, Canada was handed over (in softcopy) to
Puan Rashidah Haji Bolhassan , the Chief Executive Officer, recently at Sarawak
State Library  (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak).





Dr. Trevor Hancock is one of the founders of the
Healthy Cities and Communities movement. Over the past 25 years he has worked
as a consultant for local communities, municipal, provincial and national
governments, health care organizations, NGOs and the World Health Organization.
 He worked as a volunteer at a secondary
school in Lundu from 1966 – 1967.  Dr.
Trevor was also one of the speakers for Urban Thinkers Campus program held
recently at Sarawak State Library.



Currently
Pustaka has received more than 76,000 items bequeathed or donated to Pustaka
from individuals in Sarawak and from ex British Officers
that had served in Sarawak or their families as well as from volunteers that
had served in Sarawak.





Pustaka would like to see more individuals to come forward and
contribute towards the preservation of Sarawak’s culture, governance, history,
arts and heritage.
