Launching of Kampung Rajang Village Library on 24 Feb

Kuching: Assistant Minister in the Chief
Minister’s Office (Promotion of Technical Education) and also Assistant
Minister for Environment   and  Kuala Rajang State Assemblyman, Datu
Haji Len Talif Salleh, is expected to officially launch the Kampung Rajang
Village Library on Wednesday, 24 February, 2016 at 10.30am at the library.


Community engagement programmes such as spring
cleaning and tree planting will be held at the library. Educational programmes
for all ages such as Information Literacy Class, Born To Read, a storytelling
competition, Info Hunt, cupcake and flower decoration competitions will also be
organized in conjunction with this launching ceremony.



These programmes aim  to strengthen the
relationships and cooperation among the communities and, at the same time,
inculcate the reading habit and encourage people to use the library services
more often.



This village library project was a smart
partnership between the National Library (PNM), Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Matu
Daro District Council and the Village Development and Security Committee
(JKKK). 





The library now has a total of 1,400 books. It is
equipped with a variety of reading materials on various subjects. 



Member of Parliament for Tanjung Manis, Datuk
Hajjah Norah Tun Abdul Rahman, Director General of National Library, Hajah
Nafisah Binti Ahmad,   and Chief Executive Officer of Pustaka Negeri
Sarawak, Hajah Rashidah Haji Bolhassan, are expected to attend the launching
ceremony.
