Sarawak State Library holds DIY Makey Makey and DIY 3D Prnting workshop

Posted on 12 August 2016

Kuching – The public is invited to experience the world of Makey Makey at Sarawak
State Library on 13 th August 2016 ( Saturday ) in conjunction with the Lincoln Corner
Carnival.

Makey Makey is an electronic invention tool and toy that allows users to connect
everyday objects to computer programmes. It contains three basic elements which is the
Makey Makey circuit board, alligator clips, to connect the board to everyday objects
and a USB cable to connect with any computer.

That combination allows a person to transform almost anything into a key that tells
the computer what to do, whether that is typing a letter or controlling a game character.

Instead of using the computer keyboard buttons to play the piano, a person can hook
up the MaKey MaKey to something fun, like bananas, and the bananas become the
piano keys.

The DIY Makey Makey workshop will be held in two sessions, 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm (
Session 1) and 2:30 pm – 3:00pm ( Session 2 ) at Makerspace, Ground Floor,
Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.

During the same day of the carnival, a workshop on DIY 3D Printing will also be held
at the Makerspace, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.

Participants will learn how to turn those designs that they have imagined into physical
formations with just the click of a button.

The workshop will be also divided into two sessions, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm ( Session 1 )
and 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm ( Session 2 ).

The workshops are open to all and admission is free.
