Belian benches from Harwood Timber to Pustaka

KUCHING: Harwood
Timber Sdn Bhd handed over four belian
benches to Pustaka Negeri Sarawak that will be installed around the Pustaka’s
lake.



Held at the lobby of Pustaka yesterday,
the handing over was part of Harwood’s initiative in fulfilling their corporate
social responsibilities (CSR) to the community.



Executive Chairman of Harwood Timber Sdn
Bhd, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Bujang Mohd Nor handed the four benches to the
Pustaka Negeri Sarawak Managing Board Member Datuk Alfred Yap Chin Loi.



Yap was representing the Pustaka Negeri
Sarawak Board of Management Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Hamid Bugo.



Hamid in his speech whose text was read by
Yap, said the ceremony aimed to initiate a collaborative effort from both
Pustaka and Harwood on park maintenance so that the park can be utilised by the
public.



“We want preserve the clean, beautiful and
safe environment of Pustaka’s park so that everyone can enjoy their
recreational activities over here.

“Not only that, we are also aiming to
educate the community about the important of park and open spaces to create a
sense of pride ad ownership of the park.



“I also would like to take this opportunity
to call upon any interested individuals, group or agency to join our Park
Adoption program with us so that we can improve and maintain the park by
volunteering their time or resources to improve their chosen section or part of
the park ,” said Hamid.



He added that the adoption could be done
in a variety of ways including planting and maintaining flowers and trees,
maintaining the paths and tracks by removing shrubs and weeds and so on.



     “I also would like to invite members of
the public to join Pustaka in our quarterly flower and tree planting
activities, apart from performing other task to help keep the park clean,” said
Hamid.



    Also in attendance
were Chief Executive Officer of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Hajah Rashidah Haji
Bolhassan and Manager of Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd, Haji Abdul Hadi Datuk Haji
Abdul Kadir.
