300 to attend seminar on records and archives at Pustaka Negeri Nov 14-15

Kuching – Pustaka Negeri Sarawak will hold a seminar on Records and Archives Seminar 2016 ( RAS2016) this Nov 14 and 15
Records and Archives Seminar is one of the activities planned in 2016 for departments, state agencies and the public in Sarawak.
Other ongoing activities include advisory visits, courses and workshops, records appraisal, disposition of records and conservation of department’s valuable records.
This is the first Records and Archive Management seminar organized by the library to create awareness on the importance of records and archives for the sustainability of history and heritage.
The seminar is also as a medium for information sharing and network to better manage public records.
There will be seventeen (17) invited speakers. Speakers are from Australia, South Korea, Singapore,Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Malaysia. About twelve (12) papers on records and archives management will be presented in the two (2) days seminar and six (6) workshop parallel sessions will be conducted.
The papers are “Best Practices in Records and Archive Management”, “Record Keeping in the Digital Age”, “Risk Management and Technology in Records and Archives”, and “Records and Archives in Justice, Advocacy and Reconciliation Work.”
About 300 participants from local agencies and departments have registered for the seminar.
The Records and Archives Seminar 2016 ( RAS2016) will be declared open by Assistant Minister for Native Laws and Customs & Assistant Minister for Arts and Culture YB Datuk John Sikie anak Tayai,representing the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem
