26th November 2024, Melbourne - We are thrilled to share that Sarawak State Library successfully participated in the 2024 Oral History Australia (OHA) Biennial Conference held at Trinity College, University of Melbourne, from 21–24 November 2024.
This year’s theme, "The Power of Oral History—Risks, Rewards & Possibilities," explored the transformative role of oral history in society and culture.
Our presenters, Bronny Lawrence Nawe (Pustaka Institute) and Muhammad Shahrul Bahro (Oral History Division), delivered a remarkable presentation on 25th November 2024 titled: "Exploring Oral History in Sarawak: Initiative from the Sarawak State Library Perspective."
The paper highlighted our initiatives to document and preserve Sarawak's unique history and traditions through oral history, underscoring our commitment to creating a comprehensive repository for future generations.
Congratulations to our presenters on this outstanding achievement!
The OHA Conference serves as a vital gathering for oral historians, librarians, and researchers to exchange ideas and strengthen the role of oral history worldwide.
Held in the vibrant city of Melbourne, it included workshops, presentations, and discussions, making it a hub for knowledge sharing and networking.
Let us continue to elevate Sarawak's history and heritage through our ongoing efforts.
