Summary
In Sarawak to-date, numerically the Ibans form the largest group followed by the Chinese and compared to these two ethnics, the Malays are a by far smaller group. But since the time of the Brooke regime, Malays have been in high places in Sarawak society. They have been the most educated, most vocal and the first to participate in political activity. It covers the history of Malays of Sarawak and The Cession Controversy 1946-1951 and The Malaysia Controversy 1961-1963 and a stronghold was created with the formation of Parti Bumiputera in 1966, which later expanded with the merger of the Iban party, Pesaka in 1973 to formed Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
