Summary
One word to describe this story is its a story about ‘Hope’. Hope of the young people who live as an imigrant to find a better life in the Capital City. Its a story about a young girl from Maxico at the Miner town name Sonia Ocampo that was born in a terible storm but it stops emmidiately once she was born. In that tragedy, the town people thought that she was a Holy Child that was sent to help them. Living as a living Alter where people put wishes to make rain during a sunny days, praying for a better husband, better life and even for an obedient child makes so much burden on her shoulder in such a young age. There was a time when she was asked by the people to take care of a boy who’s left to find a job. However, he is found murdered in the valley. Right at that time, she realise that she didn’t have that magical power and yet she can’t escape the identity that has been pined on her since child as a Holy Child. At this moment, she decided to have a normal life where she take the chance to have a job in the Capital and make a new life right there. With a new hope she begin her adventerous journey to make a better life of her own in a new place. This book tells stories through magical realism which tells us where we can find where the real power comes from within themselves.
