Summary: In May 2008, hackers bombarded America’s epilepsy foundation’s website with hundreds of photos and links. Some patients suffer from ‘photosensitive epilepsy, meaning that epileptic seizures can be caused by flickering and flashing pictures. A Security flaw was exploited and linked to pages with rapidly flashing images by hackers. The hackers did not seem to be interested in money or in control over the victim’s computer. They just want to create an impact to vulnerable people. This is just one of many examples of evil online that this book presented. This book discusses the socially disturbing dimensions of the internet in our world. Evil online is easy and compelling reading for those interested in understanding the rie of evil in our technologically dominated world.
