Summary: Kuala Lumpur is fast becoming a city with an intenational look. Although pictures of early Kuala Lumpur have been published from time to time, little is known of the problems which confronted the local authority during the city's formative years.The Kuala Lumpur Sanitary Board , founded in1890, was the first of is kind in this country. Fortunately much of its work was carefully documented in one form or another. These documents, however are not easily accessible to the average person. Some of the more interesting sources have been assembled in this book for the benefit of the benefit of those who wish to have a more graphic picture of how Kuala Lumpur developed under the Sanitary Board. The book should also help the present and subsequent generations to identify some of Kuala Lumpur's historical landmarks.
