Even though an effective human rabies vaccine has been available since 1885, rabies still kills around 59,000 people each year, with 60% of these deaths in Asia. The number of animals, especially dogs, that die from rabies is unknown. To help eliminate human rabies deaths caused by dogs, the rabies community is using the One Health approach, focusing on both humans and animals.
Written by experts and specialists in rabies control, this book shares experiences and lessons from efforts to control and prevent rabies in Asia and this book suitable for postgraduate and early-career infectious disease practitioners and researchers, as well as public health officials.
