Summary
The author provides very simplistic recipes for meals and snacks and testimonials for all, with a brief description of their history. Recipes include nutritional information and quotes from people that have struggled with disordered eating or body image issues. The introduction also includes good advice for people that struggle with different eating issues. For example, “Start by trying a recipe you feel comfortable with, make and eat it a number of times, and then expand your repertoire. If you find change overwhelming, consider introducing a specific day of the week to try something new.”  It has sections at the start explaining different vitamins and minerals and how they are good for you, this continues through the book as at the end of each recipe it explains how the recipe ingredients are good for you. Then there is a section of recipes broken down into mealtimes. There`s no real `plan` or `calorie counting` or `rules.` This is all about being healthy and taking care of your body. At the same time, the recipes are simple enough that it doesn`t feel like you are cooking something that is unbelievably unhealthy. At the end of the book there is an example food plan and self-help tools, including worksheets, a questionnaire, & a doodle page to add your own affirmations. This self-help section completes the book and makes it very well-rounded as a “practical guide” for those that may not have a healthy relationship with food.
