Lincoln Corner Talk entitled `Women in Science` today at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak

Kuching - Pustaka Negeri Sarawak in
collaboration with the US Embassy Kuala Lumpur is organizing a Lincoln Corner
Talk entitled Women in Science that will be held this Friday, 20th March 2015.





The talk is in
conjunction with Women`s History Month and will commence at 2.30 pm at
Pustaka’s Seminar Room. The invited speaker for this talk is Luming Chen, a
graduate from Yale University with a research intensive B.Sc. in Molecular,
Cellular, and Developmental Biology and currently conducting an independent
research project with the support of the U.S. Fulbright Program.





During the two-hour talk, Luming will share information on the origin and meaning of Women`s
History Month in the United States, highlight the accomplishments of some
famous women scientists in the history of the United





States, explain some
of the current challenges of women in science/academia, and facilitate some
discussion on what we can do as individuals and as a society.





Women`s History
Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to
events in history and contemporary society. It is celebrated during March in
the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, corresponding with
International Women`s Day on March 8 every year.





Members of the
public are invited to attend this talk and admission is free.
